Wilaya Trust Zakat Project

Over the years, individuals within the Wilaya Trust team have been entrusted with delivering zakat to persons or families who they personally knew of needing assistance in Oxford and were eligible for zakat.

It has become increasingly clear that the need to support those in Oxford has grown.

Therefore, Wilaya Trust is honoured to offer the first local service of its kind, where zakat can be distributed locally through this platform. This underscores the Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ advice to Mua’dh that, when collecting zakat from those he was responsible over, it should be distributed among their needy.

Wilaya Trust Zakat operates with a 100% donation policy, ensuring your zakat goes directly to local recipients. All applicants are carefully vetted through a detailed process to confirm their eligibility. We engage directly with them to understand their needs and provide the most effective support.

Maximise your zakat rewards by entrusting us with your contribution. Through Gift Aid, we enhance each donation, reinvesting 100% back into the community through all our Wilaya Trust projects and initiatives.

What sets us apart is our commitment to distributing zakat exclusively within the local community. This ensures that those facing difficulties right on our doorstep receive the care and support they need.

Distributing Zakat locally

Ibn ‘Abbās narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Mu‘ādh to Yemen and told him, ‘You are going to encounter a group who are of the people of the book. Call them to testify that there is no God but Allah and that   I am the Messenger of Allah. If they accept this, then teach them that   Allah has prescribed upon them the giving of alms; it is taken from the wealthy among them and distributed amongst their poor. If they accept this, then beware of unjustly taking from them their most prized wealth. Be careful of the prayer of a person oppressed, for between such a prayer, and Allah stands no veil.’
